Fall General Membership Meeting: November 14th Please plan to attend the Fall General Membership Meeting on November 14th at 7:30 pm in the SCSC Clubroom. This is your time to address any concerns or questions about membership; we will also announce election of new Board Members at this meeting (all candidates should plan to attend). Call for Candidates for BOD Vacancies Several positions will be coming available for the SCSC Board of Directors (BOD) this Fall. Positions on the BOD require a year-round commitment of meeting attendance and assigned duties, in exchange for waiver of membership fees. Members with serious interest, please submit a bio (stating areas of expertise or skills) no later than September 18th to the Secretary at info@southcarrollclub.com. August 2007Elementary Night: Wednesday August 15th! Our second Elementary School night will be Wednesday August 15th from 6pm to 9pm. The event will be held rain or shine (if raining, go to the Clubroom). This popular night for kids entering Kindergarten through fifth grade features a DJ, pizza, soda and dessert for the low cost of $5.00. Members may bring nonmember friends along. Parental supervision is encouraged. Sign up at the Guard Office and look for more details on the bulletin board. NOTE: If you are not attending, note that the pool will close at 5pm to general membership to prepare for this event. July 2007Middle School Night: July 18th!On Wednesday July 18th from 7pm to 10pm, kids entering or leaving Grades 6-9 are invited to Middle School Night. The DJ will be playing rain or shine (if raining, go to the Clubroom). For just $7.00, kids will get 2 pieces of pizza, chips and soda and dancing; members may bring nonmember friends along. Parental supervision is encouraged. Sign up at the Guard Office up until 5pm on July 18th and look for more details on the bulletin board. Frank's Pizza Opening Delayed Due to unforeseen circumstances, the opening of the snack bar by Frank's Pizza will be delayed until further notice. February 2007 2007-08 Budget Approved by General Membership The 2007-2008 operating budget was approved by the General Membership on February 21, 2007. Review the approved budget. Memberships Dues are Due on April 1st! This years' dues of $470 are due no late than April 1st. Without exception, penalties will be applied for dues turned in after April 1st. Notices are going out by February 28; if you do not receive your notice by March 5, contact membership@southcarrollclub.com. If you have moved in the past year, then please update your membership contact information online. January 2007 Tri-to-Win Triathlon Scheduled for June 17, 2007 at SCSC This fifth annual Father's Day sprint triathlon is an excellent event for first-timers and experienced racers to compete in a family friendly, enthusiastic and well-supported event. The 400-meter swim features a great outdoor competition pool, and the 14-mile bike and 5K run showcase the scenic and rolling countryside of southern Carroll County, Maryland. The event will be held at South Carroll Swim Club on June 17, 2007. Discounted early bird entries close on May 25. More info.... Winter General Membership Meeting! Please plan to attend the Winter meeting of General Membership on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at 7:30 pm in the Clubroom. The main goal of this meeting will be to approve the budget for 2007-8 (see above for complete voting info). This is also a good time to approach the Board with any ideas or to resolve any questions you may have about Club operations. The main goal of this meeting will be to elect two new members to the Board (see below for complete voting info). This is a good time to approach the Board with any ideas or to resolve any questions you may have about Club operations. Vote for SCSC Board Members The time has come to elect new representatives to the SCSC Board of Directors for the 2006-2009 term. Seven candidates, including two incumbents, have submitted their information. Candidate bios are available online in the Fall Newsletter; you may request a printed version of the Fall Newsletter from info@southcarrollclub.com. August 2006Call for SCSC Board Members Positions for the three-year terms of three Board Members are concluding with the 2006 swim season. These Board Members may run again and other General Members may run to obtain a position. The election of Board members takes place by vote of general membership with the Fall General Membership meeting. Upon election to the Board, the Board decides what position is best suited to a new member (i.e., you do not "run" for a specific position). This volunteer position will enable you to be part of the decision-making team for our Swim Club. Though there are specific duties for each Board Member, we work together to ensure SCSC's smooth operation and maintain its excellent reputation. Each Board Member is voted in by the membership to serve a three-year term. You must commit to attending mandatory monthly meetings year round and must have a working internet connection to address Members concerns in a timely manner. This is not a paid position, but Board Members' seasonal dues are waived. Please submit your name (along with your bond number) as a candidate and include the following to be published in our fall newsletter:
Submit your information via e-mail or postal mail. Deadline is September 15th, 2006. E-mail info@southcarrollclub.com with the subject line Board Member candidate. Membership thanks those who remembered to provide updated photos of their family this year with their renewal. This is the only way that guards can distinguish members from nonmembers so it is imprtant to keep them up-to-date. If your family has grown or changed and you need to update your photo, please do so before the end of the swim season. Simply drop your picture off at the guard office with your name and Bond number or e-mail the picture to membership@southcarrollclub.com.
